The Angel of the Lord (2013)

Performed by the Portland Vocal Consort in spring of 2013, directed by Ryan Heller.

After its premiere in winter of 2012, I decided to re-arrange this work to submit to a Young Composer Competition held by the Portland Vocal Consort, a small professional choir focusing on new works. The Angel of the Lord won their competition, and they performed it for their Best of the Northwest concert that spring at First Christian Church in Portland, OR.

In a review of the concert, Brett Campbell in the Oregon Artswatch said, “Young Composer Contest winner Derek Sup of Salem visited many shores in his dense yet satisfying work.”
